Large objects may be dropped during lifting operations such as construction, supply boat unloading, simultaneous operation (e.g. drilling and production), maintenance, etc. If these loads are accidentally dropped, the impacts could be asset damage leading to loss of containment, failure of buoyancy systems, etc.
A Dropped Object Risk Analysis (DORA) assesses the risks arising from lifting operations on or near an installation. A DORA involves the following steps:
Description of the lifting operation.
Lifting hazard Identification.
Dropped object frequency determination.
Assessment of the probability of hitting a target or area of an installation.
